Third person seeking Parry Sound-Muskoka Conservative nomination

It’s now a three-horse race to be Parry Sound-Muskoka’s next Conservative nominee.

Holly Thompson has announced her plans to seek the spot. Thompson is a Chartered Accountant. She says Parry Sound-Muskoka was incredibly important to her growing up.

Having spent a lot of her life in Bala she says she’s excited to be coming back and is looking forward to “the opportunity to put the skills I have learned to use in Ottawa for the people of Parry Sound—Muskoka.”

Thompson calls herself a lifelong conservative who has worked on campaigns and with conservative organizations across the province.

She says she wants to re-engage voters, especially younger voters, on issues that matter to them.

Among those issues are high taxes that Thompson says are hurting small businesses, the riding’s potential not being realized because of the lack of good jobs and affordable living, and the carbon tax. That tax was implemented by Ottawa after the Ford Government scrapped Ontario’s cap-and-trade plan.

Thompson so far is up against Huntsville Mayor Scott Aitchison and Meghan Shannon from MacTier who has a PhD in Geography and Environmental Management. You can learn more about Thompson at her website.

The local Conservative riding association has yet to set a date and location for its nomination meeting. The federal election is scheduled for October 21st.
