An investigation is underway after some kind of oily material was found on the playground at Parry Sound Public School.
The Parry Sound North Star is reporting the Ministry of the Environment’s Spills Action Centre was called yesterday by town staff and the fire department.
Principal Shannon Mahon sent an email to parents this morning letting them know about what was going on.
It says that a film has formed on top of the standing water in the school yard’s grassy area. Soil samples have been collected by a testing company and the area has been roped off.
Students are being asked to stay off the grass and play on the asphalt until the test results come back. We’ll have more details as they become available.
