Icebreaking happening north of Parry Sound

The coast guard is going to be doing some icebreaking north of Parry Sound on Wednesday.

The ship Pierre Radisson will be clearing the way for commercial ships at Killarney and on McGregor Bay. After that’s done the coast guard says it’ll be returning to southeastern Georgian Bay tomorrow.

Exceptionally large ice ridges north of Hope Island on the route to Midland have prevented icebreakers from reaching Midland Harbour this month. The coast guard says Pierre Radisson will once again work to establish tracks to the harbour.

Anyone who will be in the area of these icebreaking operations is asked to use extreme caution.
