Rotary shutting down Dragon Boat Festival

A Parry Sound summertime tradition has come to an end.

The Rotary Club of Parry Sound has announced that they will not be hosting the Dragon Boat Festival in the future. The club says that a number of factors played into its decision, including waning interest in this type of event province-wide leading to fewer and fewer teams participating.

The Rotary wish to acknowledge and send a great big thank you to all our sponsors, volunteers, participants, friends of Rotary, and spectators for supporting the event over the past 17 years who’s combined efforts raised close to $800,000.00.

The Rotary Club is making it aware that although they are not hosting the event this will give the opportunity to another interested party.

The Rotary Club will be focusing on the 1st annual 3-pitch tournament that replaces the long-running RACH tournament and will be staged at Kinsmen Park on the Father’s Day weekend.
