In Memoriam: Muriel Stewart

                                                                          MURIEL STEWART

Muriel Georgina Mary Stewart passed away peacefully at Belvedere Heights on Monday March 18th, 2019. Age 91 years.  Muriel was born in Sudbury to Mabel and Philius (Red) Rouleau; she was raised by her Grandma Tucker after the early passing of her mother. Muriel was awarded a scholarship to attend the University of Toronto, where she obtained a B.A. in 1950. While in Toronto she met and married fellow U of T student John C. Stewart. Several years after graduation they moved to Parry Sound where they raised their family on the beautiful shore of Georgian Bay.

Muriel welcomed with love her five children: Mary Catherine Stewart; Anne Marie and her husband Dave MacLennan; John Stewart and his wife Trish; Peter Stewart and his wife Joanne; and the late Jamie (Dec. 1982).  Cherished grandmother of Matthew (Veronica), Katie (Scott), Joe (Catherine), Alexandra (Oresti), Liam, Isabelle and Felix.  Great grandmother to Meaghan, Noah, Jack, Cole, Kale, Abby, Nile and Clayton. Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  Muriel and John enjoyed golf, curling and travel. They forged friendships that lasted throughout their lifetimes.

As their health declined, Muriel and John moved to Belvedere Heights nursing home, where Muriel was grateful every day for the care she received over eleven years. Deep thanks to the staff at Belvedere, especially in recent weeks. Angels do walk among us.

Friends will be received at the Logan Funeral Home, (705-746-5855), 81 James Street, Parry Sound, on Friday, April 5th, between the hours of 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 – 9:00 P.M.
