OPP arrest two impaired over the weekend

OPP have made two arrests this weekend following a ride check and a crash.

On February 2nd, the West Parry Sound OPP were conducting R.I.D.E. check on Pickerel River Road in Henvey Inlet First Nation.

Just before midnight, a car approached the RIDE and spoke to an officer who determined the driver had been drinking.  A 57-year-old man from Henvey Inlet First Nation was arrested and charged with operation while impaired by alcohol or drugs, Over 80, driving with cannabis readily available and possession of more than one licence.

The driver is scheduled to appear at court in Parry Sound on February 28th. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle he was driving was impounded for seven days.

In the same day,  the West Parry Sound OPP responded to a report of a single vehicle in the ditch on Glenrock Road in McDougall Township.

Before midnight, a car lost control and slid off the road and into the ditch. Officers determined the driver had been drinking and arrested a 48-year-old woman from McDougall Township. She was charged with operation while impaired.

The driver is scheduled to appear in the Parry Sound court on February 21st. Her driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days and the car she was driving was impounded for seven.
