Parry Sound donating EMS trucks to local municipalities

The Town of Parry Sound will be replacing three EMS trucks.

According to Dave Thompson, Director of DevelopmentĀ and Protective Services for the Town, every five years the town replaces their EMS trucks as the designated delivery agent, that any decommissionedĀ EMS trucks are offered to area municipalities that have a mandate to assist with emergency response.

The municipality of McKellar and the municipality of Argyle First Response Teams will have two donated EMS trucks where the third will be traded to Crestline for $10,000.

Crestline has also been awarded the contract to replace three EMS trucks for the town in the amount of $126,578 plus tax for each truck. Those funds are coming from the 2019 EMS reserve fund.

“I think it’s very important that emergency services support each other and this is one of the ways that we can recycle some of the dollars that are spent on the EMS service within the district and we can then benefit the municipalities in the district and therefore the citizens who rely upon those services,” Thompson said.

The trade is expected to take place toward the end of this winter season.
