Friendship Center staff adjusting to their new home

The Parry Sound Friendship Centre is welcoming everyone to their grand opening.

The Friendship Centre grand opening in honour of its new home is happening this Saturday at 5:00pm.

“We’re in a new location with a new beginning and we’re going to see more programming that’s going to come because of the gymnasium that we’re using,” McKay noted.

“The Whata singers and Mohawk traditional dancing will happen at the social and young singers from Wasauksing First Nation will be here at the centre,” said Delores McKay, Executive Director of the Friendship Centre.

On January 7th, The Friendship Centre relocated to 70 Isabella Street. The Centre assumes a wing and the gymnasium at the former Isabella Street School.

Its old location on Bowes Street is in disrepair and the staff at the new friendship centre says they are much warmer and their space is more user-friendly because they can operate on one floor.
