Police bust illegal cannabis store

Police say they are targeting illegal cannabis stores.

On January 4th, police task forces and the West Parry Sound OPP executed a search warrant at an illegal cannabis store on Bekanon Road in Henvey Inlet First Nations.

Police seized suspected cannabis bud, shatter and edibles. The estimated street value of the cannabis seized is approximately $157,230. Police also seized $3,250 in Canadian money.

A 20-year-old man from Valley East was arrested and charged with Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling and a 39-year-old man from Sudbury was charged with allowing the property to be used for unlawful sale or distribution.

The accused were released and are scheduled to appear before the court in Parry Sound on February 28th.

The OPP say they are continuing to lead an enforcement strategy to target illegal cannabis operations. The focus of the strategy is to dismantle organized crime groups, remove illegal cannabis supply, remove illegal cannabis enterprises such as storefronts and online stores, and target the proceeds of crime.
