Studded tire season extended in northern Ontario

Northern Ontario drivers can now use studded tires earlier and longer.  The Ontario Government has extended the use of studded tires by two months from September 1st unitl May 31st.  Studded tires can be used on vehicles that have an ownership address in northern Ontario, which includes the districts of Algoma, Cochrane, Kenora, Manitoulin, Nipissing, Parry Sound, Rainy River, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, and Temiskaming.  Minister of Northern Development and Mines Michael Gravelle says by extending the studded tire season our government is making winter driving safer for the countless families and businesses that rely on our northern highway system each year.
