Police remind everyone of back to school safety

Students head back to school next week and police want everyone to be extra cautious.  The West Parry Sound OPP says next week marks the return of school buses, crosswalk guards, and young pedestrians along the various streets and highways in the Parry Sound area.  Officers remind drivers to keep a safe distance away from a stopped school bus with the read overhead lights flashing and stop arm extended and remain stopped until the arm is folded and the lights are off.  The OPP would also like to remind students to walk opposing traffic well over on the shoulders of roads, no horseplay, and to obey traffic signals and school crossing guards.  Police ask that safety practices remain on the minds of the motoring public, parents, caregivers, students, crossing guards, and bus operators to help make this a safe school year.
