Donations to Salvation Army could be doubled this weekend

Walmart Canada will match donations made by individuals to Salvation Army Christmas kettles tomorrow.

They said they will match donations up to a maximum of $100,000. This year’s Christmas kettle campaign goal is $21-million nationally.

Donations made to the Salvation Army helps with basic necessities such as food, clothing, shelter and other provisions. Contributions also support The Salvation Army’s life-changing programs, such as substance abuse recovery, housing supports, job, and life-skills training, and education classes that help people find a way out of poverty, permanently.

“Yes, this Saturday will be a busy one for The Salvation Army across Canada.  We are so grateful for the partnership we have with our local WalMart store here in Parry Sound,” said Lt. Scott Allen of the Salvation Army.
The Parry Sound Salvation Army says it is in urgent need of Christmas Kettle volunteers for next week.  There are still lots of empty time slots to fill.  If anyone is interested in filling a two-hour kettle shift, they should call the volunteer kettle coordinator, Deb Pryor, at 705-346-1597 or the office at 705-746-5391.
