Family breakfast offers Sensitive Santa

Parry Sound is hosting a family breakfast with Santa that caters to the needs of all children.

Sensitive Santa is available by appointment and caters to children with sensory needs.

The Optimist Club of Parry Sound in partnership with Community Living and the North East Autism Ontario program is holding a breakfast with more than one Santa this year.

“Going to see Santa can be very overwhelming for some children. With everyone around, waiting in line, the lights and music and everything happening can be very overwhelming. Having Sensitive Santa available in Parry Sound would provide the opportunity for those families that would otherwise not be able to take pictures with Santa, to have that opportunity to do so,” said Josée Venne, occupational therapist, and optimist club president.

Sensitive Santa will be in a separate room away from the public breakfast by appointment only. Families will not have to wait in line and will have 15 minutes with Santa to get comfortable in the room before flashless photos are taken with Saint Nick. Sensitive Santa will accommodate children by getting on the floor with kids or by following their lead to help kids feel more at ease. Lights will be dimmed and sensory toys will be made available.

All are welcome to Breakfast with Santa that will take place on Saturday, December 8th from 8:00 am to noon at the Bobby Orr Centre. Prices for the breakfast are $3 for children, $5 for adults or $15 for a family of four.

Limited space is available for a seat with Sensitive Santa. To book your appointment, contact Kimberly Spadafora at (705)746-6287 ext. 4810, or by email at [email protected]
