Meeting in Parry Sound to discuss endangered rattlesnake

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is holding a meeting to determine if a stop order should be changed.

It was issued against Clear Lake Estates because of concerns with the Massasauga rattlesnake.

The snake is listed as “threatened” under the Endangered Species Act. The concern is that the development may destroy some of the species’ habitat.

The purpose of the hearing is to consider whether the stop order should be confirmed, amended or revoked. The meeting is open to the public. It’s happening on Monday, December 3rd at the Stockey Centre at 2 Bay Street at 8:30am.
