Alternative solutions to therapy coming to Parry Sound

PSHS Parent School Council is putting on a free event in Parry Sound.

Doctor Brad Reedy, Co-owner and Clinical Director of Evoke Therapy Programs will be hosting a presentation on Friday, November 16th at the Stockey Centre following a work shop for parents and youth at the Parry Sound Public School on November 17th.

Dr. Reedy told MyParrySoundNow.com that local parents reached out to him who have had success with this mental health, addiction and parenting workshops to improve the discussion surrounding these issues here at home.

Rather than offering expert advice on how to raise your child, Dr. Reedy says he offers a process that provides parents with what he calls “an enduring source of truth – themselves.”

He believes there is not one way to raise a child – there are thousands of right ways to raise a child.

During his presentation and in his book, Reedy shares principles from his experience as a wilderness therapist that he says can be applied to all families and all relationships.

“When adolescents or young adults attend any of my work, they feel really empowered because the shift for parenting is to make their own lives a project rather than the child’s life their project and the results are profound,” he said.

While there is no simple solution to parenting and raising children, Reedy says he offers a compassionate approach that may differ from typical therapists or parental education programs.
