Legislative Page Program now accepting student applications

Calling all 7th and 8th grade students. An opportunity awaits to be a part of the Legislative Page Program during the Spring session.

Pages that are accepted into the program can learn about provincial governance, meet key parliamentary figures, explore the history of Ontario’s Parliament, and forge lifelong friendships with peers across Ontario. During this once-in-a lifetime civics lesson, Pages will deliver messages to and from the House and perform duties for MPPs.

Students are asked to write a 750-word essay, complete an application form, and submit a consent form that is signed by a parent or guardian, homeroom teacher and principal. Ontario students, with at least an 80% academic standing, are eligible to apply through the Legislative Page online application portal.

“Muskoka-Parry Sound has had some fantastic Legislative Pages in the past, including most recently Kathleen Fleming, a student from Huntsville Public School who served with the Legislature this fall,” says Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller. The two had the chance to meet and have lunch during one of Kathleen’s days in the House.

If you are interested in applying to the Legislative Page program, applications are open until November 15th for the Spring Session. The program is highly competitive, attracting hundreds of students from across Ontario each round. Students will be notified at the end of January if they have been accepted into the program.

Students can apply here.
