Sound Splash Pad Gets New Name and Starts New Fundraising

The Sound Splash Pad has a new name thanks to a generous donation by a local Service Club.

Sound Splash Pad Co-Chair Chris McDonald says the Parry Sound Rotary Club has stepped up to support the cause.

McDonald also recognizes support already in place by other Service Clubs like the Optimist Club and Kinsmen and continuing public support for the grass-roots project.

The Splash Pad Committee has locked down the design of the proposed pad, one that has 23 features with a large dumping bucket as its central feature. The budget for the pad was $270,000 but came in under budget at $254,000

They are locking down all operating, construction and hook-up costs and hope to present those costs to Council in time for the 2019 budget deliberations. If approved the project would be on-target for a summer 2019 opening.

McDonald says they are now launching the next phase of fundraising.

After hearing some public concerns, the Splash Pad Committee wants to clarify questions about the water source for the project.

To date $80,000 of a target goal of $300,000 has been raised. Those wishing to donate or get involved can go here  Click here
