18 Sent to Hospital from Monoxide Leak in Emsdale Residential Facility

Residents and staff of Country Haven Acres residential home in Emsdale in the township of Perry have potentially been exposed to a carbon monoxide leak.

Township of Perry Fire Prevention officer Graham Stetler confirmed to the My Parry Sound Now newsroom that the home had been evacuated but could not confirm the number of potential victims at that time.

An ambulance responded to a report of people experiencing nausea and headaches and ultimately transported 18 people to Huntsville Hospital starting around 12:15 p.m.

A spokesperson from Huntsville Hospital confirmed that they received the patients in the afternoon Sunday, and all had been triaged and treated, with a number of patients being released. None of the patients was reported as being in critical condition.

Country Haven Acres is described as a residence for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
