MP Clement taking on new role in Conservative Shadow Cabinet

Tony Clement is taking on a new role in the Conservative Party. The Parry Sound-Muskoka MP has been named Shadow Minister for Justice.

Party and Official Opposition leader Andrew Scheer made the announced today along with a few other changes to the Shadow Cabinet. Clement previously served as Shadow Minister of Public Services and Procurement.

“I want to thank our Leader for placing his confidence in me as Shadow Minister for Justice. It is a significant portfolio and I pledge to stand up for Canadians in holding the Trudeau Liberals to account. Conservatives have a long and strong history of standing up for victims of crime and keeping our communities safe. I will continue to stand up for these principles,” said Clement, who added he is also thinking today of his late stepfather, John Clement, who served as Attorney General of Ontario.

In announcing the changes to the Shadow Cabinet ahead of the fall session of Parliament, Scheer said “Our Conservative team is focused squarely on holding the Liberals to account and presenting Canadians with a clear alternative to Justin Trudeau. The changes to Shadow Cabinet I announce today reflect the growing strength of our team and our commitment to helping Canadians not only get by but get ahead.”
