Adrift boat leads to impaired charges

A man is facing impaired charges after police responded to calls about a boat that was adrift.

The West Parry Sound OPP says it happened just after midnight today on Georgian Bay. Officers were able to locate the boat and the OPP says they found a man slouched over and not moving onboard.

After speaking with the 27-year-old from the Wasauksing First Nation officers arrested him. He’s been charged with “over 80mgs of alcohol in blood” and care or control while impaired.

The OPP is reminding motorists that there is no safe amount of drug or alcohol consumption when operating a vehicle. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by calling 911 immediately.
