Man charged with stunt driving in Henvey Township

A Thunder Bay man will have to find another way around after losing his licence in Henvey Township.

The West Parry Sound OPP says it was monitoring traffic on Highway 69 on Sunday. Just after noon the OPP says a vehicle travelling at a “high rate of speed” was spotted. The 69-year-old driver was pulled over and charged with “stunt driving, over 50km/h.”

His licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle was impounded for a week as well. The driver is scheduled to make a court appearance in Parry Sound in October.

The OPP says every person convicted of performing a stunt with a motor vehicle is liable to a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both. That’s on top of his or her driver’s licence being suspended and the vehicle they were operating being impounded for seven days.
