Britt-Byng Inlet man charged in missing woman’s death

A Britt-Byng Inlet man has been charged with Second Degree Murder.

This comes after the discovery of the body of Amanda McClaskin. The 36-year-old woman had been missing from her Britt-Byng Inlet home since August 3rd. The West Parry Sound OPP says her remains were found in a wooded area near Lake Joseph Road in Muskoka Lakes Township early this morning.

On top of the murder charge Mark St. Amand, who’s 39-years-old, is also facing one count of Indignity to a Dead Body. The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on Thursday.

As the investigation into McClaskin’s death continues the OPP is asking anyone with any information about the case to call them at 705-746-4225 or 1-888-310-1122, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
