Parry Sound 33 – Day 24 Update

The Parry Sound 33 Fire has been finally downgraded to a status of being held.

It is the 24th day of the fire and it is still the largest in central Ontario.

At over 11,000 hectares the work of firefighters, water bombers, and helicopter bucketing crews has resulted in the fire potentially staying within the control boundaries established by the crews.

247 staff are being used to get the fire under control with eight of 10 provinces providing support staff, along with Mexican and American firefighters.

There is still a total fire ban in the Parry Sound region.
