Wilderness Traverse being held in Nobel this weekend

A number of adventurists will be running around the unmapped area north of Nobel this weekend.  For the second straight year, Wilderness Traverse will be held our backyard with 34 teams from Ontario, Quebec, and the northeast United States competing to conquer the Canadian wilderness.  Assistant Event Director Barb Campbell explains that the teams won’t know the course until they get it on Friday afternoon and tells us what the competitors will be doing.

Residents can keep tabs on the contestants online at http://www.wildernesstraverse.com as they have GPS trackers on them but only have compasses and maps to navigate with.  Everyone is also invited to the McDougall Recreation Centre anytime during the competition to get updates and are encouraged to be there when the teams arrive at the finish line on Sunday.
