Watershed advisory in Parry Sound District thanks to rainfall in June

The Ministry of Natural Resources is warning that local lakes and rivers are higher than normal.  A Watershed advisory is in effect for the Parry Sound District after we received a large amount of rainfall this month and water levels and flows are significantly higher than what we normally expect or experience at this time of year.  Residents and those visiting the area are advised to be aware of current watershed conditions, exercise caution around bodies of water and maintain close supervision of children and pets.  Higher than normal lake water levels and river flows are expected to continue into next week before subsiding to more normal summer conditions.  The MNR is closely monitoring the weather and developing watershed conditions and will provide updates if there are any changes before next Friday.
