Emergency services coverage changing in Parry Sound District

EMS coverage in the District of Parry Sound is changing.  At a special meeting of council Tuesday night, it was voted to discontinue the volunteer service delivery model in the Argyle area because of the declining number of volunteers and the retirement of one of the two fully-certified volunteer paramedics.  The redeployment plan calls for the community to be served by a 12-hour, seven-day-a-week day shift provided by the District EMS.  Mayor Jamie McGarvey says the Town has gone through a process over the past two years with the advisory committee, members of the Argyle community, EMS and the West Parry Sound Health Centre to come up with a pattern to maintain appropriate service throughout the District.
