GORD POLLARD

Mr. Gordon Russell Pollard of Parry Sound, Ontario, passed away peacefully

at the West Parry Sound Health Centre, on Monday, May 28, 2018.

Age 89 years.

Gord was born November 13, 1928 in Mimico, Ontario to Russell and Josephine Pollard. He was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Parry Sound, and served as Clerk of Session from 1999 to 2012.  He was a graduate of the University of Toronto School of Pharmacy, 1953, and moved to Parry Sound in 1961, where he established Pollard Pharmacy in 1969.  He was a member of the Orono Orphans hockey team which won the Ontario Junior D championships in 1948-49.  He continued to play recreational hockey until he was in his late 70s.

Gord is predeceased by his wife, Jane, his brother, Kenneth, and his son, Andrew.  He is survived by his wife, Carol, and children, Bruce (Elisa), Laurel, Joan (Louise), Chris (Lisa), and William (Helen).  He is fondly remembered by his in-laws, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.

The Pollard family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and all the staff at the West Parry Sound Health Centre for their tremendous care and compassion.  As expressions of sympathy, donations to the West Parry Sound Health Centre would be greatly appreciated.

 Visitation will take place at the Logan Funeral Home, 81 James Street,

Parry Sound (705-746-5855), on Thursday, May 31st, from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M.,

and at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Friday, June 1st, from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M.

 A Service in Celebration of Gord’s Life will be held on Friday, June 1st at 11:00 A.M

at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.
