OPP warns drivers to stay safe and sober when off-roading in Parry Sound

Before you break out the ATV for the long weekend police have a few reminders.

Central Region OPP Sergeant Peter Leon says your off-road vehicle has likely been sitting in storage for a long time, which means it needs a quick inspection. He says it’s important to make sure there’s nothing wrong with the vehicle that could cause a serious crash.

Leon says even if you’re taking a quick ride around your yard, you should always have a helmet on.

Finally, Leon is urging everyone to keep the booze out of your system until your off-road adventures are over. He says one of the biggest causes of ATV crashes is impaired drivers.

Leon says the OPP will be keeping an eye on trails over the long weekend and the rest of the summer to make sure drivers are safe and sober.
