Seguin Mayor Bruce Gibbon stepping down after 16 years in politics

Seguin residents will be electing a new mayor this fall. After 16 years in politics, Bruce Gibbon is not seeking re-election saying the time has come for a change in leadership. Gibbon says when he got into politics, it was at a time when taxes on waterfront properties were seeing major increases.

Gibbon says the preceding council, and his current council, made fiscal management a top priority. He says the highlights of his 2014-2018 term as mayor include: keeping the average annual residential tax increases under one per cent, road reconstruction, making waste management more efficient, and protecting lakes.

Gibbon says the next council and mayor need to keep their focus on the environment, economic and fiscal responsibilities.

Gibbon will step down as of November 30th, the end of the term. He says he plans to spend more time traveling and relaxing on the dock.
