Local students in Europe for today’s D-Day anniversary

Many people are remembering all the men and women who fought in World War II as it’s the 70th anniversary of D-Day.  Over 30 students and staff from Parry Sound High School are in Europe for the commemorative ceremonies taking place today.  The group brought with them two flags bearing the names of Algonquin Regiment soldiers and local soldiers who fought in both world wars which has been getting lots of positive attention.  This is the second time the flags have been to Europe as they were taken by students two years ago on the 95th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.  You can follow the student’s adventures on twitter by searching #pshsjuno2014 and also hear from the students themselves at a presentation on Monday, June 16th at 7:00pm in the high school cafeteria when they come back from the trip.
