Multiple complaints about an erratic driver on Highway 69 ends in charges

The West Parry Sound OPP is laying a number of charges after getting complaints of an erratic driver. The OPP says it received multiple calls about the driver on Highway 69 in Mowatt Township, and officers responded to the complaints just before 5:00 on Thursday afternoon.

The OPP says it tried to stop the driver, but the accused fled in their SUV. The police then tried tire spikes on Highway 400 in Parry Sound, and say the suspect then ran away. The OPP says the K9 and Emergency Response Unit attended the scene, and the accused was found in a shed nearby.

The suspect is now facing a number of charges:

  • Flight while pursued by a peace officer
  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • Breach of Recognizance
  • Fail to comply with recognizance
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Fail to stop for police

The accused was held in custody and will answer to the charges in a Parry Sound court.
