Team of youth volunteers established to help young victims

A volunteer youth victim crisis response team has been established in our region.  The team was created by East and West Parry Sound Victim Services in order to help young victims of crime and tragedy.  The youth crisis team can play a pivotal role in providing appropriate assistance to teenage victims, thus helping them regain self-esteem, a sense of personal power, and faith in their abilities to build a brighter future for themselves.  All youth crisis response volunteers received 60 hours of intense training in peer support techniques and were taught crisis intervention theory and communication skills that will enable them to handle all types of crisis situations.  They also have an extensive working knowledge of the community resources available in East and West Parry Sound.  For more information visit www.ewpsvs.ca.
