Parry Sound High School commemorating D-Day anniversary in Europe

Over 30 Parry Sound High School students are heading to Europe for the 70th anniversary of D-Day.  Saturday morning the students will set out for their 10-day journey which will include a ceremony with many other schools and organizations commemorating the anniversary.  Erin Scali is one of the students going on the trip and explains why she wanted to go on this year’s trip.

Students going on the trip will be bringing two flags; the first has all the names of Algonquin Regiment soldiers who fought in the war which students researched for the exhibit at the Museum on Tower Hill.  The other flag has all the names of Parry Sound soldiers who fought in the both World Wars.  Two years ago, students from PSHS brought the flags to the 95th anniversary of the battle of Vimy Ridge which gained much media attention and Scali says it showed the world how much Parry Sound appreciates their veterans.
