Municipal and community groups along with tourism organizations will learn how to take advantage of having a Blue Flag recognized beach. Waubuno Beach earnied that distinction because of the benefits to tourism it provides, how it supports health and environmental priorities, and its commitment to safety and sustainability. A workshop is being held at the Museum on Tower Hill on June 11th for local groups to learn how to identify sources of beach pollution using DNA testing, about species at risk on the beach, the link between Blue Flag and tourism, and social media and beach promotion. There will also be a flag raising at the beach in the afternoon to recognize Waubuno Beach’s Blue Flag status.
