Higher prices for cottage country homes in January compared to 2017

Cottage country saw lower homes sales in January with higher prices.

The Lakeland Association of Realtors released its monthly report and it says sales volume is down approximately 25 percent across cottage country compared to January of 2017.

The average sales price for non-waterfront homes last month was $317,250, while waterfront properties sold for an average of $407,500.

In the Parry Sound-Muskoka region, 10 properties changed hands, compared to 14 last January.

However, the average sale price of a waterfront property was $385,750, which is a jump of almost 25 percent compared to last year.

Non-waterfront residences sold for an average of $278,500, which is a climb of eight percent when compared to last January.
