Almaguin Highlands OPP reports no impaired driving charges over the Family Day weekend

Almaguin Highlands OPP is reporting new traffic numbers for the Family Day weekend.

Included were the results of various R.I.D.E. programs conducted throughout the region.

Police say no impaired driving charges were handed out after a total of 184 drivers and cars were checked.

Officers laid a total of seventeen charges on local highways and snowmobile trails including nine for speeding and one for failing to remain in a marked lane.

The weekend also saw a snowmobile fatality as well as two other collisions with no injuries.

Other offences included driving with while under suspension, driving with no insurance, and driving without valid vehicle permits.
