OPP caution ‘No Ice is Safe Ice’ as mild weather is forecast for Parry Sound

The O.P.P. is reminding outdoor enthusiasts that no ice is safe ice.

With warmer temperatures and heavy rain forecast for the Parry Sound region, Community Safety Officer Dianna Dauphinee says even though the ice may look safe for snowmobiles and A.T.V’s, it can be deceiving.

Dauphinee also recommends never going on the ice alone, and bringing a floater suit and ice pick with you in case you go through the ice.

Dauphinee adds before you hit the trails, you should be aware of the kind conditions you’ll be running into.

A rainfall warning has been issued for the Parry Sound region by Environment Canada as temperatures are expected to hit 11 degrees on Tuesday.
