Aileen Adaline Rice, affectionately known as “Soda”, passed away peacefully with family by her side, at the West Parry Sound Health Centre, on Wednesday February 7th, 2018.

Age 86 years.

Dear daughter of the late Waubgeshig and Lucy Tabobondung.

Beloved wife of the late John Wilson Rice.

Loving mother of John and his wife Deina;

Bob and Trish;

Lily and her husband Jason;

and the late Elaine, Marion, and Jim.

Dear step-mother to Bette Roberts (Rod), Karen Chegano (Jack),

Raymond Chegano, Mary Chegano, and the late Brenda Gohm.

Dear grandmother of Marion, Murdock, Waubgeshig, Mskwaankwad, Gigohns, Jamin, Misadis, Daniss, Wa-gosh, Emily, Dmitri, Genebugh, Owen, Brady, Carson, and Bazil.

Great grandmother of Daamin, Neegahneese, Jiikwis, Megiss, Emerance, Evander, Emmett, Connor, Nodin, Cohen, Miingoozwin, Miinaande, and Namaawin.

Dear sister of Audrey Pawis, Barbara Pawis, and the late Nellie, Frank, Alfred, Eldridge,

William, Anderson, Jane, Stella, and Clara.

Fondly remembered by her many foster children, nieces, nephews,

other relatives, Hughie, and friends.

“I am not lost, but will continue to live within you.”

Aileen was awarded the Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship (2000), and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Anishnabek Nation (2001). She was a West Parry Sound District School Board Trustee from 1968 – 1980. Aileen loved to spend time at her beach, as she believed it brought her closer to the Creator, peace and tranquility.

Resting at the Logan funeral Home, 81 James Street, Parry Sound (705-746-5855), where friends will be received on Friday, February, 9th, from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 P.M.

Funeral Service will take place at the Wasauksing Complex on

Saturday, February 10th, at 11:00 A.M.

Friends will be received prior to the Service from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M.

Cremation.

Reception to follow.
