STAFF REPORT RECOMMENDS PARRY SOUND HOST SNOWBIRDS’ AIRSHOW IN JUNE

The Snowbirds are one step closer to coming to Parry Sound.

In its report to council, staff recommends the Town of Parry Sound be lead host of  the elite squadron’s airshow planned for Wednesday, June 13th.

Council will vote on the matter Monday at a special meeting in the Council Chambers.

Early estimates had the cost of hosting the event between $15,000 and $40,000.

With corporate sponsorship and participation from other municipalities, the report estimates the final cost to the town shouldn’t exceed $10,000.

Seguin Township, Township of The Archipelago, and Lakeland Power have already expressed their support of the event.

The report also recommends the Snowbirds be allowed to fly “low and loud” over the town’s waterfront.

The special meeting takes place at 6:00 pm on Monday, January 22, in the Council Chambers on 52 Seguin St, Gibson St. entrance.
