AD-HOC WELLNESS AND POOL RECREATIONAL COMMITTEE TAKES CAMPAIGN TO LOCAL COUNCILS

A revitalized effort is underway to have a pool/recreational complex for the Parry Sound region.

The Ad-Hoc Wellness and Pool Recreation committee is approaching seven municipalities in the area to look into the project.

The Committee includes a number of prominent community members including Parry Sound Mayor Jamie McGarvey and West Parry Sound Health Centre and Lakeland Long Term Care CEO, Donald Sanderson.

The committee has sent correspondence to seven Parry Sound area municipalities including Parry Sound.

The committee is requesting all councils to add a question to the 2018 municipal ballot asking voters if they want a member of council to sit on the committee.

Consultations conducted by the committee would consider the funding and location of the project if plans were to move forward.

The Municipal Elections Act states that local councils have until March 1st to add  questions to their ballots for the upcoming election.

Councils including Parry Sound, Seguin, and McDougall are currently exploring their options.

To see the proposed ballot question and find out how you can participate, go to committee’s website at Wellness and Pool Complex.
