Snow is on the way and it may not stop until early next week.

The snow squalls moving into Parry Sound tonight. Environment Canada Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says this isn’t the end of the heavy snowfall this week. He says we should expect to see more snow squall warnings in the next few days.

Coulson says by next week Parry Sound could be sitting under at least 30cm of snow.

Snow squall watches and warnings are released when a lake effect snowstorm is expected to hit. These types of storms happen when warmer water in Georgian Bay is met by cold air. Lake effect snowstorms have brought 30cm of snowfall or more to the district in the past.
