Carling will wait to make a move to look into a municipal police force.  At last night’s meeting, council decided to defer a resolution to look into the feasibility of municipal police with Seguin Township should the proposed OPP funding model go through.  Mayor Gord Harrison says while the township is opposed to the OPP’s proposed funding model, there are concerns about hiring a pre-determined consultant without sending out a request for proposals first.  Harrison says council will wait to make a decision after the provincial election in June and in the meantime, focus on voicing their concerns about OPP costs to provincial candidates.
