Our local police want to celebrate Police Week by sharing public safety messages with the residents. West Parry Sound OPP has identified a need for awareness to prevent crimes as the force has responded to 77 calls for service regarding property crimes. These include Break and Enters and thefts from homes, cottages, vehicles and businesses. This year’s Police Week event will include a Child Car Seat inspection day today from 11:00am until 3:00pm at Canadian Tire, an interactive display to help home and cottage owner to lock criminals out of their property at Walmart tomorrow, and Thursday and Friday will be Lock It or Lose It days across the district. The OPP says crime prevention continues to play an important role in how they police and it’s helpful if community members and police to partner at every opportunity to improve community well-being, safety and security.
