UPDATED: Winter weather won’t impact Parry Sound too hard this weekend

Parry Sound could see a sample of winter weather this weekend.

Environment Canada is tracking a storm coming into Parry Sound Saturday morning. The storm will start out as rain but change to snow Saturday night with just a few centimeters falling. Environment Canada is warning there’s a chance of freezing rain as the weather changes.

Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says a bigger snowstorm is coming off Georgian Bay Sunday night, but Barrie and Orillia will be taking the brunt of the snow.

Parry Sound may not be spared in the next few weeks though. Coulson says lake effect snow is expected to crop up throughout November. He says in the past these types of storms have hit the district with 30cm of snow or higher.
