A hotline has been established to help orphaned bear cubs

With the Spring Bear Hunt underway in Ontario, a hotline has been established to report orphaned bear cubs.  Zoocheck Canada Campaigns Director Julie Woodyer says although hunters aren’t intentionally orphaning the cubs, it comes with the territory of most hunts.

Anyone finding orphaned cubs are encouraged to call 705-749-7704 and leave their name, phone number, and location of the cubs and the authorities will work to rescue them.  Woodyer is also the chair of the Aspen Valley Wildlife Sanctuary and says there is plenty of room at the sanctuary to accommodate any orphaned cubs or other animals in distress.
