The Parry Sound community helped to raise over $13,000 to support the Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve. Last Friday, the Biosphere held a bake sale and after all the donations, new memberships, and the matching of funds from Scotiabank, Dr. Becky Pollock from the GBBR says the event raised $13,052. The funds will go to supporting environmental education programs put on by the Biosphere throughout the year. Last year, the Biosphere programs reached over 16,000 kids in the Parry Sound District.
