May is Community Living month. The first day of May is tomorrow and the Town of Parry Sound will kick off Community Living Month by raising a flag at the town office. Community Living Parry Sound has worked to bring people and their communities together for the last 52 years and have a number of events planned for the month including a golf tournament, strategic planning session, and the Mayor’s breakfast. The province of Ontario is proposing a plan to eliminate wait lists for direct funding for 21,000 people with developmental disabilities with an $810 million investment over the next three years. This is the largest ever funding increase to the developmental services system in Ontario pending approval by the legislature.
