Carling man faces firearm charges

A man faces firearm charges after shots were fired in Carling Township.  West Parry Sound OPP was called to Carling last Tuesday where it was alleged that someone had fired shots with a rifle.  A police investigation found that a 46-year-old had improperly used his firearm and did not have proper documents to possess firearms.  The man has been charged with two counts of careless use of a firearm and unauthorized possession of firearms and will face those charges in court on May 15th.  As a results of this incident, the OPP would like to remind the public that although the Federal Long Gun Registry has been abolished, a firearm owner still has several responsibilities regarding licencing, registration and safe storage of firearms and ammunition.  For more information please visit the Canadian Firearms Program at http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/index-eng.htm.
