The spring wild turkey hunt gets started today. This year, the Ministry of Natural Resources has approved a hunt in wildlife management units 47, 49, and 50 in the Parry Sound District. Hunters are reminded that permission is needed to hunt on private property and hunting within 400 meters of where bait is deposited is illegal. Turkey hunters must have successfully completed the Ontario Hunter Education Course and the Ontario Wild Turkey Hunter Education Course and passed both examinations. Residents are encouraged to take precautions while enjoying the outdoors during any hunting season such as wearing orange and walking in groups.
