Police report five fatalities on highways over long weekend

The OPP is saying that five fatalities occurred over the Canada Day long weekend.

Two of the fatal collisions involved motorcycles, and excessive speed was a factor in one of them.

According to police speed remains a lead cause in deaths on the road, accounting for 31 of the 113 deaths on the road.

Police were on the lookout for speeding and aggressive drivers as well this weekend. The OPP handed out 5,800 speeding tickets across the province this weekend
